Future Entrepreneurs, Business Leaders Find Innovation at Inventionland

As soon as students headed back to class this fall, the doors of Inventionland were open to welcome various student groups to tour “the world’s most creative workspace.”

In September, a group of 11th and 12th grade students from an Entrepreneur and Small Business Management class at neighboring Riverview High School, in Mr. D’s hometown of Oakmont, PA, toured through the creative design facility, gazing in amazement as they peered through the secret entrance through Mr. D’s office.

“This is like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory!” said the students’ teacher, Ms. K, who also said the students were most surprised by how big the 61,000-square-foot creative design facility was.

“You would have never guessed what was behind the moving door [of the bookcase in Mr. D's office],” said Ms. K.

Touring through the 16 different themed sets, the students stopped in front of Inventalot Castle for a quick pic, but said their favorite spot was the theater.

“It was very innovative and the [Dare to Invent] videos were fun to watch,” said Ms. K.

According to Ms. K, the overall purpose of the trip was to see a non-traditional business setting with great innovation, where the American dream is fulfilled.  So, did Inventionland live up to their goal?

“Yes, [the students] were able to see what an idea and opportunity can bring someone,” said Ms. K.  “Anybody with an idea can follow his or her dream.”

We couldn’t agree more!
