It’s time again to release another exciting “Dare to Invent” webisode.  This week, our creationeers are getting… well, a bit creepy!

The seventh in our innovative 13-episode series features Pennsylvania native, Julian Smith, inventor of “The Best Stink Bug Trap Ever!”  The new webisode is NOW crawling on YouTube and Davison.com!

Just like you and me, Julian was your average, everyday person; but, Julian’s home was filled with uninvited house guests… stink bugs!

Now, we all know there are plenty of bug repellents and traps on the market.  Unfortunately, existing products didn’t seem to “put the boot” to Julian’s smelly visitors!

So, he took matters into his own hands and even created a model stink bug trap out of a soda bottle.  He brought his idea and working trap to Davison.

Tim, a talented team of Inventionland Creationeers and one very cooperative “test-bug” began buzzing away to make Julian’s trap appealing to bug victims and a friendly-fit for companies’ product lines.  After some intense testing and even a feature on a local news channel, Julian’s “The Best Stink Bug Trap Ever” is ready for production and to see the light of store shelves!

You may have noticed new life blooming outside, but the spring has also brought new life to one of Inventionland’s favorite attractions, Davy’s Treehouse!  Mr. Davison’s secret hideaway appears the same on the outside; but, inside, it has really “branched” out!

We talked with our Executive Director of Design, who told us that he was the mastermind behind the incredible renovation.

“I was inspired by the TV show “Numb3rs,” he said.  Then, he explained how one of the show’s main characters worked in a garage that was surrounded by chalkboards that he would utilize to solve problems.

Fast-forwarding that concept to today, our Executive Director of Design decided that he wanted to panel the inside of the treehouse with lighted dry erase boards; so, he took his idea to our founder, creative genius Mr. Davison.

“He said, ‘That sounds awesome, do it!’” said our Executive Director of Design.

He gave his creative concept to an expert team of Creationeers, who perfected the vision and added some extras.

 According to our Executive Director of Design, there are several secret panels hidden within the treehouse.  Of course, due to confidentiality, our lips are sealed!      

“It’s ultra-modern,” said our Executive Director of Design.  “It’s just great for brainstorming.”

So, what did Mr. Davison think of his new tree-top hideaway?

“In my opinion, our Creationeers have built the greatest brainstorming environment ever invented.  When you start, all the walls are white and by the time the ‘storm’ is over, what was once a thought in thin air, leading other thoughts from thin air into illustrations, which cause the ‘storm’ to grow and grow until the walls of ideas surround us and… well, you get the idea… we have lightning in a treehouse (not a bottle),” said Mr. Davison.

On tonight’s new “Dare to Invent” webisode, our inventor and Creationeers are really having a ball… meatballs, actually! 

The sixth in our 13-episode series features Jean Rindfuss, inventor of the Meatball Baker.  The tasty episode is live now on YouTube and at Davison.com!

An avid cook and loving mother and grandmother, Jean tries to make perfect meatballs for her family, but the meatballs always end up covered in grease.

After receiving some disappointing news from her family’s doctor, Jean vows to make a healthier option and she brings her idea for improved meatballs to Davison.

Joey leads our creative team to make a health-friendly pan for baking meatballs.  Through a lot of research, a little bit of redesign and some ridiculous product testing, Jean’s Meatball Baker comes to life and even lands on QVC and on the shelves of major national retailers!

Tonight, again, we beg the question, do you… “Dare to Invent?” when we feature the fifth in our 13-episode “Dare to Invent” series on YouTube and at Davison.com.  This week’s webisode is live now and features John Iavarone, inventor of the BikeBoard.

In tonight’s episode, the California native faces an “X-treme” problem:  Trying to ride a conventional scooter, enjoying the ride, then being jolted off by uneven pavement or stray twigs.  Worse yet, John has to watch in horror as his kids do the same thing!

He wants a safer, sturdier scooter that is more unique and maneuverable; so, he takes matters into his own hands and brings his idea for a “west-coast” scooter, which combines surfboarding, skateboarding and biking… to Davison!

Nathan leads the creative team and, with a little help from fellow creationeer (and, often, test-dummy), Clay, they overcome all obstacles and the BikeBoard proves to be a rolling success!

John’s invention also reaches another exciting milestone when an international giant features the BikeBoard on some of their “cheesiest” packaging!

“This is an entrepreneur’s dream, to have a company like this to work with,” says John. “This has been a great relationship.”

It’s time again to release another exciting “Dare to Invent” webisode!  The fourth in our 13-episode “Dare to Invent” series is set to air on YouTube and at Davison.com, tonight at 7:00 p.m.

This week, we’re showcasing our client, Ed, in his pursuit for a more convenient and humane way to tether his dog outdoors!

You see, Ed got tired of his precious pup’s chain knocking over the food and water bowl while the pet was tethered in the yard… not to mention, the dish and the chain were often in the way of the lawnmower!

So, taking matters into his own hands, Ed brought his idea for a “better” tethering device to Davison.

In tonight’s “Dare to Invent” webisode, our Creative Coach, Jason, and his creative team quickly get to work, designing a tethered dish that will sit under a lawnmower’s reach.

After a few failed licensing attempts, major modifications and some intense testing, thanks to Clay, you can watch as Ed’s Better Tether goes into production!

Mr. Davison, our Inventionland creationeers and one of our clients are back at it in tonight’s “Dare to Invent” webisode! This week’s episode features Michigan inventor, Kay, and her Pugz Shoes!

For our client, Kay, and her two Shelties, Autumn Angel and Rough Spot, taking a December trot in the snow, with her neighbor, Janice, and her golden retriever, was nothing close to walking in a winter wonderland. Instead, their faithful friends would wind up with either cold, wet snowy paws or even salt-soaked paws, from treated roads and sidewalks.

“I needed something that would stay on and protect their paws… [Something to] keep their paws from getting dry and cracked,” Kay said.

For Kay, the logical solution was boots for her pups. Follow along as Kay and her Pugz Shoes take the journey though project inception, development, licensing and beyond!

“I would advise [future inventors] to stay positive and do some research… Don’t get discouraged, it can happen,” said Kay. “I’m a firm believer… nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

Call it creativity gone digital, our “world’s most creative workspace” has been featured in Project Magazine, “the world’s first native iPad magazine!”

According to their website, Project Magazine’s core subjects are international design, innovation, science, fashion and business… we’d say Inventionland fits right in!

The Inventionland article, which appears in the magazine’s 10th issue, features several awesome pictures of the creative design facility. It also marvels at the philosophy behind the 16-unique themed sets.

“With a company wholly focused on people having big ideas, Davison wanted to create a workspace that would encourage expansive thinking, with more of a child’s view of what is possible than a grown up take on what is practical. The result is something like Disneyland with desktops,” said Project Magazine writers.

The article also includes a great interview with our CEO and Founder, Mr. Davison, who explains how Inventionland designers create products for individuals and corporate clients.

“Inventionland is a psychological playground for creative people,” says Mr. Davison, who goes on to say that he created the facility to give every idea person the opportunity and resources to succeed in pursuing their ideas.

Recently, the halls of Inventionland were filled with a vivacious group of fifth grade girls, who certainly captured the creative energy of our design facility!

The Fairview Elementary School Junior Girl Scouts toured Inventionland in January and shared their inspirations (and thanks) with an extremely creative bunch of personalized “thank you” cards.

We also talked with the group’s chaperone, Ms. F., who said the girls were overwhelmed by the energy Inventionland exudes.

“[There was a] huge ‘wow’ factor, the girls and I had to remind ourselves constantly [that Inventionland] is a work place,” said Ms. F.

In fact, Ms. F. said the girls were most surprised to find out how much work was being done at “America’s Largest Invention Factory.”

“Most surprising was that behind every set was an office and work being done, meetings taking place…” said Ms. F.

While each group member had a favorite set, Ms. F. said the students talked most about the Davy’s Treehouse.

“I think the feeling of being outside and the idea of ‘playing’ caught their attention,” said Ms. F.

Ms. F. said their Inventionland tour taught her students the importance of thinking outside the box and using their own creative ideas, which the group certainly did when they created their personalized “thank you” cards.

We’ve showcased the cards throughout this post, but we’d also like to share the students’ inspiring personal messages.

“Thanks Mr. D!” – Elizabeth, who also designed the inside of her card with an array of colorful buttons!

“Thank you, I really liked all the buildings and [conveyor] belt. It was so cool and I learned so much!” – Ally, who sewed a “Thank You” design onto the front of her card.

“Thank you for the free tour. It was super fun! P.S. Have you ever thought of making a floating tea pot?” – Maya

“Thank you for inviting our troop to Inventionland. We had a blast and I learned a lot about your fun inventions. I also spotted out a couple of things we own on the [conveyor] belt. Thank you!” – Kate

“Thank you Mr. D! You have influenced me [to] think outside the box! [The tour] was great!” – Riya, who was so excited, she made two thank you cards!

“Thank you for the wonderful tour. Also, thank you for the book. Because of it, I will always remember Inventionland! Thanks again!” – Margaret

“Thank you for letting us get a tour of Inventionland. I loved the tree house. I love using my imagination! – Sanam

The host’s tour appeared as a segment called “Bildgeschichte Inventionland” on the German TV show and on their website!

So, what did “Bildgeschichte Inventionland” (or “Picture Story Inventionland”) have to say about Inventionland? We’ve copied the show information below for you to enjoy:

Well, that may not be exactly how we would have said it, but we think they get the gist of our creative workplace!
